Accolent ERP automatically stores 30 days of database snapshots at all times. From these database snapshots, we can restore a user’s database as of any date in the preceding 30 days. In addition, Accolent ERP allows a user to create and keep additional backups beyond these 30 days of snapshots. All user created backups are stored in the user’s secure folder in AWS S3. AWS S3 is designed for 99.999999999% (11 9’s) of durability, and stores data for millions of applications for companies all around the world. If user needs access to a stored backup, ADS Solutions can restore that database backup upon request.
Why Create Backups
- A database snapshot allows restoration of the full database as of the snapshot date
- However, using the snapshots it is not possible to restore to a database state earlier than the snapshot date
- As such, if any data had been changed, removed or overwritten more than 30 days ago, for example, this data could not be restored by reverting from a snapshot
- For these and other reasons, users may wish to create additional database backups that will be stored on AWS S3
Creating Backups
- To create a backup at any time, go to Utilities > Database Backups
- This screen displays all database backups created for user’s system by backup date
- To create a new backup, click the Create Database Backup button
- The newly created backup will be saved in user’s folder on AWS S3 until deleted
Deleting Backups
- To delete a backup, select the backup in the grid and click the Delete Database Backup button
- For example, delete backup of 10/15/20
Restoring from a Backup
- Contact ADS Solutions at any time to restore a backup to a new temporary Accolent ERP system
