Sub-categories are useful in several ways. Products can be filtered, sorted, or grouped by sub-category on certain reports. Use the Sub-Categories screens to set up the product sub-categories your company would like to track.

Sub-Categories

  • Each sub-category can be associated with one category; and each category can be associated with one group
  • Sub-category codes may be reused however, for example a generic sub-category of “MSC” for miscellaneous or “ALL” for all products is acceptable.  The combination of Category and Sub-Category makes these entries unique.
  • Sub-category is the lowest level grouping shown in the product index displayed on the eCommerce screens
  • Additional Product Filters can be assigned to a sub-category
  • These filters will aid in searching in online ordering in Online Stores and Self-Service Portal modules
  • Go to Settings > Value Lists > Product Only Lists> Sub-Categories to see a list of sub-categories, edit a sub-category, or create a new sub-category
